Traditional Chinese Garden Design: The Reflection Garden

The garden is a northern-style garden, with the main entrance situated on the west side, and an entrance courtyard with a built-in rockery and a veranda surrounding it. In between the building and the veranda, there is a corner view and a stone bridge. An open water surface dominates the center of the garden, with a hall and a pavilion facing it and connected to a veranda, forming an encircling situation around it. A folding bridge and an island separate the east side of the water from the west side. Three different forms of water exist, each of which has its own unique characteristics. Located at the top of the garden, the hexagonal pavilion offers a great view of the water below. A wall surrounds the east and south sides of the garden, its edge partially planted with bamboo, which complements the rockery.
